2010 Whiney Awards are just around the corner! We are returning to Salvatore’s Italian Gardens in Depew on Tuesday, January 12, 6pm - 10pm, to roast former Sabre Rob Ray. Many will buy tickets but you can go for free if the Howard Simon Show to chooses your whine as one of our best callers of the year! About The Event
When something’s bothering you in WNY… WGR’s Whiner Line is the place to vent all of your frustrations. Each Monday through Friday Howard Simon and Jeremy White play back the best “Whines” at 7:50am. The Whiner Line is One of the most entertaining features on WGR!! WGR’s 2nd annual “Whiney Awards” will honor 4 of the Best Callers to the Whiner Line.
Aside from the awards, the event will Feature an All Star Celebrity Roast of Rob Ray. The Buffalo Sabres most infamous “Enforcer” #32. The player after which a new NHL rule was instituted, creating additional penalties for players who removed jerseys or pads during a fight…. The Rob Ray Rule! It was after this rule that Rob’s fistic prowess blossomed. Hear all the juicy stories from the guy’s that knew (or fought) him best ONLY at the WGR Whiney Awards.
About The Charity
The Buffalo Sabres Alumni Family of Scholarship” was formed out of a need for our organization to have a common goal and out of a former teammate’s children’s need for financial help to advance through College.
The scholarship program does not help only former Sabre player’s children, of the six scholarships given out each year only one is designated for an Alumni member’s son or daughter. The balance of the scholarships, are given to students that are in their senior year of high school and have excelled in community service.
To date, there have been over 66 students that have received help through the Scholarship program. Some of our scholarship winners have gone on to become Doctors, Attorneys, Businessmen and women, they have served our country in the Military and they continue to hold true the traits that were evident and the reason they were selected to be in our Family of Scholarship program.
