TSN.ca posted an all-time Montreal Canadiens team. It was not necessarily the 20 best players in franchise history. The best 'team' was assembled from all eras.
On a slow sports day, Mike Schopp and the Bulldog took the idea to a local level and assembled an all-time Sabre roster. They filled 20 spots with the best mix of players. Skill, character, chemistry and leadership were all taken into account.
Here is the all-time Sabre team as complied by Mike Schopp and the Bulldog and our callers.
1st Line- Scoring
The French Connection
Gilbert Perreault, Rick Martin, Rene Robert
No one can argue that this was the best scoring line in Sabres history.
2nd Line- Scoring
Pat LaFontaine, Alex Mogilny, Thomas Vanek
The LaFontaine/Mogilny 1-2 punch was timeless and Vanek is a pure scorer.
3rd Line- Checking
Don Luce, Craig Ramsay, Danny Gare
Ramsay, Luce and Gare shut down some of hockey's best talent for years.
4th Line- Energy
Michael Peca, Brad May, Rick Dudley
Brad May would fight anyone. Peca captained a Cup Contender and Dudley was the definition of 'energy guy'. Mike wanted Mike Foligno here.
Defense- 1st Pair
Jim Schoenfeld, Phil Houlsey
Two very different players paired together.
Defense- 2nd Pair
Mike Ramsey, Jerry Korab
Ramsey was a leader. Korab brought some offense to the table.
Defense- 3rd Pair
Bill Hajt, Alexei Zhitnik
They were two of the franchises' best.

Dominic Hasek
Off the ice issues could not keep the Sabres best goalie off of this team.

Martin Biron
Marty was the ultimate locker room guy and didn't need to be the #1 to excel.
