Anderson Leads Senators to 2-0 Win Over Sabres



Craig Anderson continued his scorching start in net for the Senators, stopping 42 shots and leading Ottawa to a 2-0 win over the Sabres on Tuesday.
 
The two sides skated to a scoreless opening period, but Ottawa struck twice in the 2nd. Erik Karlsson finally opened the scoring at 8:20 of the middle frame with a shorthanded goal, his 6th of the season. Marcus Foligno failed to get back, leaving Karlsson wide open for a successful slap shot at the top of the faceoff circle. A little less than two minutes later, Erik Condra made it a 2-0 game, finishing off a scrum in front of Miller by poking home the loose puck.

That's the way the game would end as Anderson turned aside each Sabres shot, good for his second shutout of the season. Miller stopped 29 shots for Buffalo. The Sabres (5-8-1) are back in action on Friday at the First Niagara Center against the Bruins. Hear the game on WGR SportsRadio 550 and the Buffalo Sabres Radio Network.

Same Old Sabres- no heart - no pride- they mailed this one in- Miller held on for just 2 goals so where are the Sabres scoring? - they got their money so why break a sweat?- Ruff is not inspiring his players- Pegula should go into the locker room n inspire his loafers?

How can anyone be picking up points on this Sabres App game? Goal differential at -9 and most goals against in the conference...even this game is frustrating to play because the Sabres are so terrible! Can we start picking the players of the team Buffaloplays against instead?

Ugh!
Let's add undisciplined to the long list of sins being committed in this wretched strecth of games by the Sabres. Nine minors tonight...three in the last seven and a half minutes, all simply careless penalties. In fact the majority of the calls against the team tonight were the avoidable variety. And on top of that add another shorthanded goal given up by a sloppy power play unit that not only doesn't generate offense but is proving to be a liability defensively. I'm sorry but sloppy, boneheaded hockey, including the umpteenth too many men call this team has picked up in the last few seasons, falls squarely at the feet of this coaching staff. So add it up with the ridiculous stat that aside from linemates Pomenville and Hodgson, Thomas Vanek has scored more goals 14 games into the season than the cumulative sum of all the other forwards employed by the Sabres since the season opener. This includes the "All Goose Egg" squad of; Stafford, Gerbe, Hecht, McCormick, Kaleta, and Scott. Anybody see any signs that this is going to get turned around anytime soon? Sabres beating Boston or Pittsburgh next two games at home? With the wheels at full wobble why not call up Porter and Mancari, waive Gerbe, sit Stafford and get a jump on the trade market and dump Leopold for an offensive prospect, which it appears we are thin on organizationally, except for our top 3 centers on the big club. Also play Grigorenko in every situation the rest of the way. Joe Thornton had all of six goals in 82 games his rookie year but Boston played him big minutes in every game. If the season is indeed tanked might as well let the kid develop by playing him.

How many games this year have the Sabres taken dumb penalties in the last 3:00 of games when they are trailing by 1 or 2 goals. I can remember at least four. Also how do you get a too many men on the ice in the last two minutes. Is there any accountability for anything?

Is this Pegula's fault for keeping the two in charge? It is starting to become all to clear that darcy is in trouble this team that he holds so high doesnt have much trade bait for anything. Why is trade market low cause you think pple still believe Stafford, Ennis and your D-Men that you have are worth more then they are. Ruff is out after this year his PP looks awful and doesnt have any fire in this team Pathetic lets shoot for a top 5 draft pick!!!

Ehrhoff sucks
Holy crow i'm so glad that we got Christian Ehrhoff and Robyn Rehgr these defensemen are so gritty and tough that no one wants to come into our zone or near our net. Wow that Ehrhoff is so elite that i cant think of any other def. that i wkd want!!! better than Suter or Doughty wow Vancouver made such a mistake look at thier defense without christian ehrhoff!!!

Team looked a lot better off the ice. People you need to realize that you can't have 30 teams make the playoffs every year. It's only a mere 16 of them. The NHL needs teams like Buffalo to help occupy the bottom 14 spots. Feel better?

Interesting to see Rob Ray drinking the kool aid -- ever since he was put on as a color man, the Sabres can do no wrong. He joins Kevin Sylvester as an apologist for this organization. Waive them or trade them however you can manage to get it done but get them off the ice. Under no circumstances should Gerbe or Hecht be on the ice, it is utterly pointless. As for Stafford if you can find someone dumb enough to take his salary....trade him....even if its for goalie equipment...see ya.

Coaching change
Bring in Marc Crawford as the head coach to get the offence going and ex-Sabre Phil Housley as his asst. coach to run the defence(who also coached the Juniors to a world Championship). Everyones happy and we get this team flying again!

A Nourishing Professional Mediocrity Town... Buffalo
It's really part of our nature here. New Peace Bridge? Whats wrong with he old one? No New waterfront? It's ok No one comes downtown anyway. No Bass pro? It's ok we have Geico and Wal-Mart! The Bills have missed the playoffs longer than any NFL team currently? Lets support them because at least we're in the NFL. The Sabres never matter in the NHL come spring hockey? It's ok lets support one of the longest running failures of an organization in pro sports history, at least we're in the NHL. Nourishing mediocrity, it's really what we are and all our fault. Start supporting your local high school teams instead. I'm wearing my local high school football and hockey jersies from now on. At least I'll do my part and refuse to nourish professional mediocrity anymore! Foreeverfore.
