Bandits get back on winning track; beat Wings 13-7
The Buffalo Bandits put together their most complete effort of the season on Saturday night as they defeated the Philadelphia Wings 13-7 in front of 13,980 at the First Niagara Center.
Buffalo, once again, received an outstanding goaltending performance from Anthony Cosmo, who stopped 45 of the 52 shots he faced. Cosmo lowered his season GAA to 10.21 and improved to 6-1 on the season.
Mark Steenhuis led the Bandits with a hat trick and two assists. John Tavares and Ryan Benesch both contributed six points with a goal and five assists each. Tavares's fourth assist was the 900th of his legendary 23-year career.
Buffalo never trailed in the game as they jumped out to a 2-0 first quarter lead. They cemented the victory with a five-goal run during the fourth quarter that included shorthanded goals from Aaron Wilson and Shawn Williams.
Mitch Wilde scored and added an assist in his Bandits debut. Wilde was a second round pick in last September's NLL draft.
The Bandits improve to 6-2 on the year and maintain a half game lead over Rochester in the NLL East division. They are off for two weeks and will return to action on March 8 when they host last place Minnesota.
