Bengals' Benson Says He's Playing vs. Bills
After some confusion on Tuesday evening set in regarding whether or not Cincinnati Bengals running back Cedric Benson would suit up against Buffalo, the running back was firm in his stance about his status for Sunday.
“I’m playing this week. I know I am,” Benson told the Cincinnati Enquirer. “We had a good meeting yesterday. I had a lot of facts to back us and now we’ll hope for the best outcome and see what happens.”
Benson is referring to his appeal meeting with the league to try and lessen the severity of his three-game suspension given out.
Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis also affirmed Benson's words, saying that they're preparing as though Benson will play on Sunday. But he also added if the league says differently during the week, they have a backup plan.
Cincinnati's top runner has accounted for just under 80-percent of the team's total carries this season. With a rookie quarterback at the helm in Andy Dalton, the Bengals have favored running the ball 55-percent of the time in their first three games.
Benson's main backup is Bernard Scott, who is second on the team with only eight carries.
