Bills' WR Johnson, OT Pears Practice Thursday

A day after the Buffalo Bills didn't have six normal contributors taking part in practice, two of them returned on Thursday.

Wide receiver Stevie Johnson (shoulder) and right tackle Erik Pears (groin) both were back to work during the session. Johnson felt as though he'd be able to return in time for the game on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. Both men took limited reps in their first practice back. The status of Johnson for Sunday has yet to be determined.

Four players were still held out of practice however. Wide receiver David Nelson, safety George Wilson, outside linebacker Spencer Johnson and kicker Rian Lindell all did not participate. Nelson has an ankle injury, but told reporters following Wednesday's practice that the day off merely served as a rest day. He would have practiced on Thursday, but had to be held out with an illness. The Bills are hoping to get him back healthy on Friday

In the case of Wilson, he's questionable for the weekend at this point with a neck injury. He was seen working with team trainers on Thursday. Spencer Johnson has sported a heavy wrap on his right calf the past two days, meanwhile Lindell was expected to miss this week's game. Head coach Chan Gailey said he's holding out hope both Wilson and Johnson can practice Friday to have a chance for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
