Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills lost to the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football 29-27 as Rian Lindell missed a potential game winning 47-yard field goal with 35 seconds remaining.
Cleveland took the lead with 1:39 to go as Phil Dawson hit a 56-yard field goal. Dawson was five for five in the game.
The Buffalo Bills took their only lead (27-26) of the game with 2:25 to play as Trent Edwards kept the ball on a 1-yard dive into the endzone. The TD was set up by a 28-yard run by Marshawn Lynch, which put him over the century mark for the first time in his career.
Lynch had a career day as he rushed for 119 yards on 23 carries and had 10 receptions for 58 yards as he appeared to be the only viable passing option for Trent Edwards.
The Bills offense sputtered in the first quarter with their first five drives ending with a punt or interception. On their sixth drive the Bills went 59 yards in 6 plays to get their first score of the game on a 19-yard pass from Edwards to Lynch. Fred Jackson was intergal on that drive as he picked up 35 yards on three carries.
Edwards looked timid with the ball after he was picked off three times in the Bills' first four possesions. On the very first play of the game Edwards pass was tipped at the line of scrimmage and then it fluttered into the hands of Kamerion Wembly. Following a three and out by the Browns, Edwards was picked off again by Andre Davis, which led to a field goal. Edwards threw his third interception on a third and one deep inside their own territory but the defense held the Browns to a second field goal.
Despite the offensive miscues the Bills never trailed by more than 13 points.
The Browns opened the fourth with a 72-yard toucdown run by Jerome Harrison to take a 23-13 lead, which appeared to blow the game open, however Leodis McKelvin took the ensuing kickoff 98-yards to the house for his first career NFL touchdown.
Jabari Greer left the game with a knee injury and did not return. Donte Whitner did not finish the game either due to a sore shoulder.
The Bills have now lost four-striaght and are 5-5 on the season, which is last in the AFC East. Their playoff chances took a major hit as there are four teams at 6-4 in the conference along with the four division leaders.
