Bills trade LB for another QB

(WGR 550) -- Almost immediately after the Buffalo Bills announced the signing of quarterback Matt Leinart to the roster, another player at a different position bid his farewell to fans on Twitter. And it just so happened those farewells were a part of a trade to acquire another quarterback.

According to a league source, the Bills have traded third-year inside linebacker Chris White to the Detroit Lions in exchange for quarterback Thaddeus Lewis.

Lewis is entering his fourth year in the NFL and has one career start under his belt. As a member of the Cleveland Browns, Lewis completed 22-of-32 passes for 208 yards, a touchdown and an interception in a 24-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He spent two seasons with the Browns, after spending his rookie year with the St. Louis Rams. Lewis signed with the Lions this off-season and has played sparingly through the preseason. He is the second quarterback the Bills have added on Sunday.

White insinuated earlier in the evening that he parted way with the Bills in a pair of messages on the social media website.

White was the third-string middle linebacker behind Kiko Alonso and Arthur Moats. The former sixth-round pick made the 53-man roster in 2012 mainly because of his abilities on special teams.

The Bills have yet to officially announce the transaction.
