The Bills normally get Tuesday off, but with a game in Toronto on Thursday, they used today as a walk-through day. The players weren't in pads and Terrell Owens was the only one that wore his helmet. Many players didn't even tape up their ankles. The reason for this is the players usually use Monday and Tuesday to help their bodies recover from the abuse they take on Sundays. Perry Fewell said he's talked to friends around the league and the key to playing Thursday is trying to keep players fresh. This will be their only practice on Orchard Park before the game. Tomorrow is in Toronto.
Not taking part were Ashton Youboty with an ankle, Todd Johnson personal reasons, Demetrius Bell a knee and John McCargo with a calf. Jairus Byrd was limited with a groin.
Terrell Owens and Lee Evans spent much of today praising Ryan Fitzpatrick and the way he's played. It's obvious who both players would rather be under center. Owens said, "If you think about opportunities that we've had during the course of the season, I've been open and I've been overthrown and I've been open and been underthrown and those are opportunities that were missed. Now with Fitz back there, there are opportunities out there and I feel I'm a part of the offense whereas I know earlier those feelings and those opportunities, I didn't feel that they were there." Owens added, "There have been opportunities where I could've been doing this all throughout the year. If you've ever followed my career and you go back to the way I was utilized in offenses, I was thrown to a number of times. I don't know what that number is, but it's far more than I've been accustomed to here in the first half of the season. So when my opportunities are limited, it limits me in my play making opportunities. It's all about the experience at the quarterback and he's definitely allowed us to make some plays down the field and that's all I ever wanted and now we're getting back to some of the things that I like to do like going across the middle and there have been times where I've been open, but those have been miscues early in the year and now we're connecting on them." Lee Evans said, "He's definitely not afraid to take a shot and he trusts what he sees. When he sees something regardless of anything instead of making excuses for it, he'll go for it. If he sees a look, he'll dial something up and say 'do this' and then throw it so he has that type of saviness about him, that leadership about him that you can just trust the guy because he is smart and he knows what he's looking at."
Terrence McGee was limited in practice, but thinks there's a chance on Thursday. McGee said, "I feel good, like today what we did out there I moved around well. I think there a chance I can play Thursday, it's more a day to day type thing so what ever they decide." McGee said after the surgery he was hoping to be ready in ten days. He said, "I heard different things from different guys and some guys were real quick and some guys took awhile."
The Bills today signed DT Rashaad Duncan to the practice squad. Prior to joining the Bills, Duncan spent a portion of the 2009 season on the practice squads of Tampa Bay and Carolina. The 6-2, 315-pound Pit product originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Buccaneers on May 1, 2009.
T.O.: "I've been open and I've been overthrown and I've been open and been underthrown and those are opportunities that were missed. Now with Fitz back there, there are opportunities out there"
Lee: "When he sees something regardless of anything instead of making excuses for it, he'll go for it."
Let's review. Trent Edwards has poor accuracy, and also makes excuses for himself all the time as to why he sucks.

They should be
It just makes you wonder how many times they have been wide open early in the season and Edwards was too much of a coward to attempt the throw. Hopefully we never see Edwards again. I dont think Fitzpatrick is the long term answer, but he definitely is making a difference.

Coincidence?
No Edwards. No Jauron. Offense producing for the first time. Coincidence? Nope. Coaching & QB play mean alot in this league.

Re: Coincidence?
First time? you mean the first time since the first two games, when Fred Jackson was the Feature Running Back.
12/01/2009 9:53PM
Edwards = another J.P. Losman
Lets face it the guy isn't that good at all. He's not a starter in the NFL and either was Losman. If Jauron was canned in the summer like what should have happened the bills might be a wild-card team.

Re: Coincidence
I agree completely - when Freddy is the featured back the team plays a heck of a lot better.

California girls
We gotta stop getting these pansy Californian surfing QBs that are complete wimps. These boys cant handle western NY. I think they sit there on the sidelines dreaming about bikinis and sand between the toes. I doubt Edwards minds being benched, because he is Californian girl

RE: Coincidence
Well I think Jauron had-had enough of Edward play also, but he never had the chance to start Fitz. Anyways credit Juron for helping scout Fitzpatrick last spring.

Where are they?
Where are all the "fans" who said they knew Trent Edwards was "the guy?"
I remember one regular poster who incessantly sent this message, "I've seen all I've needed to, and I know Edwards is the guy."
Whereis he now?
12/02/2009 4:54AM
Losman?????
I cant believe i am saying this but i think we were a little too high on trent and would have been better off with Losman this year... Either way Losman, Edwards, and Fitzpatrick are not the long term answer. Can anyone say Shanahan, Brandon Marshall, and Tim Tebow.

find a wAY////
The Bills need to find a way to retain TO- despite some personality issues, he would be an asset year # 2 in a Buffalo uniform.

RE: Quite an Indictment On Edwards
Turn the bus around he is still moving... But I agree it needs to be done...

Edwards
Noodle Arm must feel like he's being run out of town.....and TO is doing driving the bus back to California.

Typical Bills fans
Look at the surface and don't both seeing the underlying problem. Edwards made smart plays and good reads, then he went with the plays that were called. And it wasn't Jauron there; Alex Van Pelt should never have been made Quarterback Coach and Offensive Coordinator. Hey, let's give one of the most important jobs on the team to someone who was a lousy career backup. What a joke. Edwards had a better rating than Fitzpatrick and he would have no problem finding the receivers now that the coaches are in "let it all hang out" mode. They aren't calling plays close to the chest anymore because they know it's over anyway. Just watch, Fitz will get intercepted like crazy against the Jets because the coaches are calling gutsy plays and then everybody will be crying and yelling to put in Brohm. Also, Fred Jackson is about half the running back that Marshawn is, but yet again coaching has thrown a great player under the bus. Marshawn is healthy and ready and they keep calling him to run up the middle. They underutilize him and then wonder why he gets 2 yards per carry; he's just running what he's told to run. If he breaks away from what they tell him to do, he'll be branded "a cancer" and "not a team player." Grow up Buffalo, you're more fickle than the weather and once Fitz' bombs are picked off you won't be loving it anymore. And once Marshawn gets traded to another team and absolutely tears it up (like Travis Henry and McGahee) you'll be eating your words with a lukewarm dessert of Average Jackson.

Lee Evans
get rid of him. he's washed up and unproductive

Re: Where are they?
We're waiting to see where Edwards goes after this so we can be fans of that team when they beat the Bills. Great job Buffalo, settle for the career backup.

@ TypicalBillsFans
I agree with everything but that Lynch is better than Jackson. It is very true however Jackson works best in our offense. Jackson hits the holes just right...something Lynch couldn't do when he was the feature back.
