The Buffalo Sabres have been a streaky team as of late, and Friday night was no exception.
The Sabres drop their second game in a row, losing a 2-1 overtime decision to the Boston Bruins at the HSBC Arena.
Patrice scored the game-winner for Boston, after Zdeno Chara took a wrist shot from the point after a Boston faceoff win in the Buffalo zone, and Lucic tipped the puck towards the opposite direction and the puck found the back of the net.
The first goal of the evening came after Boston was saddled with a two-minute hooking minor. That put the Buffalo power play unit on the ice and ready to strike. Paul Gaustad performed his usual role of shielding the opposing goaltender's vision. Only this time he did all that and more, tipping a shot from the point through an outstretched Tuukka Rask to put the Sabres on top first. Jason Pominville and Chris Butler were given the helpers.
Boston then answered back in the second period, after a Buffalo Sabre offensive rush in to the Bruins zone. Boston then collected the loose puck and started a two-on-one of their very own. Byron Bitz gets it to Milan Lucic for a one-timer, and the slapper is put right past Ryan Miller to tie the contest at one.
Buffalo forward Drew Stafford left the game early with what Lindy Ruff described as a bone bruise. Ruff said Stafford could return as early as tomorrow or Wednesday.
With the loss the Sabres drop to 12-5-2 on the season. They're back at it Saturday night, as Buffalo goes on the road to Ottawa to take on the Senators for the first time this season.

disappointing ot loss
Thought they would bounce back tonight. After a good start to the season, they seem to be stuck in a rut. A win tomorrow at a place they have struggled would make me forget the last two at home.
