Bruins' Thomas Considering Time Off

The Boston Bruins have confirmed via their official Twitter account that goaltender Tim Thomas is contemplating taking the entire 2012-13 season off for family reasons.  After leading Boston to a Stanley Cup win in 2011, Thomas caused a bit of a stir this season by declining an invitation to the White House.

This puts the Bruins in a difficult position moving forward.  If Thomas sits out for a year, his $5 million cap hit will remain.  The 2011 Conn Smythe winner's no movement clause expires on July 1, but given his uncertain future, his trade value is probably dropping fast.  Thomas is set to become an unrestricted free agent after next season.
