Bryan Scott Taking Reps at Nickel
For all you X and O types of football fans out there, walk-thru's can be interesting to watch.
I just wanted to pass along one piece of information from the defensive side of the ball you'll likely see on Saturday for the Buffalo Bills first preseason game against the Chicago Bears.
Drayton Florence will be sidelined with a sprained ankle. So with that, the Bills shifted Terrence McGee back outside, and are using safety Bryan Scott as the nickel against three wide receiver sets.
It's important to note it is just a preseason game, and the first one at that. Rookie Aaron Williams will likely get the lion's share of work at cornerback throughout the game, so don't think this is an indication that Scott is flying up the depth chart at corner. I would assume it's more of a preservation move and one to get Scott more reps on the field.
Also, in base 3-4 sets, the inside linebackers are Nick Barnett and Andra Davis. But when the nickel package comes out (which they've used a lot of in training camp), Reggie Torbor gets subbed in for Davis.
