Buffalo Business Report - Friday, November 16th 2012



UB has begun buying up properties it will clear out for the construction of its downtown medical school.  Business First reports 960 Washington Street was purchased for $1.2 million by Evergreen Real Estate.

For the third year in a row, M&T Bank is the 6th-largest lender of U.S. Small Business Administration 7(a) loans.  M&T issued 1,089 such loans in the past fiscal year, for a total of $121.8 million.

First Niagara Financial Group will open a Syracuse mortgage processing center.  That gives First Niagara a total of three; the others are in Buffalo and New Haven, Connecticut.

Synacor has reached an agreement with BendBroadband to expand its TV Everywhere options to include Fox News, Fox Business Channel, the Hallmark Channel, ESPN-3 and the Pac-12 Networks.  No financial details were released.
