Buffalo Business Report - Monday, April 22nd 2013

The weekend brought another two cent drop in the price of gas locally.  According to the AAA, the current average for a gallon of unleaded in the region is $3.78.  

2012 saw New York State surpass California as the nation's leading producer of yogurt.  The Empire State produced 692 million pounds of yogurt last year, lead by the Alpina plant in Batavia.  Since 2000, New York has gone from 14 yogurt processing plants to 27.

First quarter net income for First Niagara Financial Group was up one penny from a year ago to seventeen cents per share.
