The AAA reports the current average cost for a gallon of gas is $3.65. That's sixteen cents higher than the national average of $3.49 per gallon.

Upscale eatery Perfetto will be coming this fall to 619 Main Street in the Market Arcade.

Construction bids have been approved for a $27 million project at Batavia Downs. The Batavia Daily News reports among the work will be a Thurman Thomas sports bar, a new restaurant and more gaming space.

In earnings news: First Niagara Financial Group posted a second quarter loss of $18.5 million, mostly due to expenses related to its purchase of HSBC Bank holdings. First Niagara was able to retain 97% of the deposits it acquired in that transaction.

Evans Bank saw profits increase for its second quarter by 54%.

Dessert Deli is celebrating 25 years in business in the Maple Forest Plaza at Maple and North Forest Roads.
