State lawmakers say New York's apple crop has taken a beating this spring. They're proposing the Family Farmers and Apple Growers Relief Act. They say apple growers have lost as much as 75 percent of this year's crop, a major commodity in New York.

Like a runner who's gotten a big head start in a race, experts say Pennsylvania may be set to dominate natural gas production in the Marcellus Shale region for many years. Oil and gas analyst Fadel Gheit says he expects Pennsylvania to be the center of activity for the next few years, if not longer. He says New York is generally seen as a more liberal state than Pennsylvania and thus more prone to imposing stricter rules on drilling.

 Gasoline  prices in Western New York have actually slipped down just a bit . A week ago they were $3.92 for a gallon of regular in the greater Buffalo area. Today that's $3.88  according to the AAA of Western and Central New York. 

The Buffalo Bills have announced a new partnership with local plumbing and HVAC contractor J W Danforth as the official practice jersey sponsor. The team's first practices at training camp begin at the end of next month.
