PROS
- An instinctual cornerback that has very good recognition skills and eyes all over the field to anticipate the play.
- Solid in run support. Shows no reservations in going with a full head of steam at the ball carrier.
- Has a good feel for zone coverage. Effortlessly comes off his initial assignment and gets to new assignment with ease.
CONS
- Size, speed and change of direction skills are below average. May not be an outside cornerback in the NFL.
- Gave his assignment a bit too much of a cushion and was beat on underneath slant routes consistently.
- Didn't really see a burst out of his backpedal to get to his man. Slow to react.
Special Notes:
- Turns 23 in October.
Projection: 4th to 5th round
- Nothing about Prater really jumps out at you, but he is a consistent player that could be a solid nickel cornerback down the line. With his willingness and ferocity to get after the runner, special teams would also be a big selling point for him.
