Edwards To Start On Sunday; Owens Misses Practice

Orchard Park (WGR 550)  -- Bills QB Trent Edwards said that he will be the starter under center for Sunday's game in Tennessee. Edwards went all out in Wednesday's practice in Orchard Park and is recovered from a concussion, suffered October 18th in New Jersey.    Ryan Fitzpatrick replaced Edwards and led the Bills to a 16-13 overtime victory over the Jets.

Fitzpatrick was the starter for the next two games on the schedule and posted a 1-and-1 record, recording a win in Carolina and then a loss at home to Houston.

Edwards said he needs to be more consistent with his reads, accuracy and footwork.  Dick Jauron disagreed with Edwards assessment about his footwork, calling the Bills quarterback "a stickler" for that part of his game.  Jauron added that he feels Edwards has enough confidence to succeed as a starting QB in the NFL.

The Bills practiced outside this afternoon, but Terrell Owens was not on the field due to a hip strain.  Trent Edwards was taking the snaps with the first-team offense.   Coach Jauron was very cautious about talking about this new injury.  “He practiced Monday and it wasn’t bothering him. After practice, he had his normal treatment. After Tuesday, it started to bother him and came back to Orchard Park for treatment. The injury bothers him in meetings. We won’t know anything until tomorrow.”

Terrence McGee was expected to return to practice today to test out his surgically repaired knee, but he was watching.  Donte Whitner was participating and appeared to be going at full speed.  He said if it were up to him, he'd play against Tennessee, but that decision is out of his hands.  Safety Jairus Byrd (groin) was participating.  Byrd said he may not be 100% for the rest of the season, but is ready to go on Sunday.

On the defensive line, Aaron Schobel (groin) and Kyle Williams (knee) were not practicing.  Tackles Jamon Meredith (knee) and Jonathan Scott (ankle) were participating.

Also today, the Bills activated WR James Hardy from the physically unable to perform list.  Hardy has been practicing for the last three weeks and today was the deadline for the Bills to place him on the active roster or end his season by placing him on injured reserve.  To make room for Hardy, the Bills cut running back Xavier Omon.

I have to ask.....
I know it's the websites job to update the "top" stories. But, besides those whose job it might pertain to.... Who else seriously cares ?

re: I Thought
I thought it was down to Jack Nicholson, Meryl Streep or Johnny Depp. You mean they aren't football players??
