Read reaction from Marcus Foligno, Josh Gorges and Dan Bylsma following Buffalo's 4-2 loss to the Bruins.
"We were mentally ready for this game. Everyone was physically and mentally ready. It's frustrating because you have such a great 1st period, and can't get it going again in the 2nd or 3rd."
"You don't want to look at the end of the season and say, 'If we had this game against Boston, we would have made the playoffs.' Right now it's a really terrible taste in our mouth, losing that game ... we gotta make sure New Year's Eve we're ready to go."
"We just exhaled. We got a lead, we felt a little comfortable, and we stopped doing the little details. The things that were making us successful in the 1st period. We gave them a little bit of life and then after that it was going to be a game that was decided on a broken-down play and that was going to be the difference."
"Disappointing the way we responded after the 1st period."
"You learn from your mistakes. Each guy in this room has to do the old look in the mirror, see what they did, what they need to do better. We got a huge game on Saturday afternoon. The great thing about this game, we get a chance to come back in their building and play the same team again. We got to have a lot more of a push, a lot more of an effort and we should be excited about the challenge."
"Our best and most emotional 1st period of the season. It was just how we wanted to come out, just how we wanted to play. There was some energy in that period. There was some emotion on both sides of the ledger in that period."
Defense is too slow, offense is not explosive enough, goaltending okay but not great, inconsistent uneven efforts. Slowly but surely falling out of the playoff possibility race.
No consistent stretch yet this year to show we are capable of putting a critical stretch together in the next couple weeks.
Adele is warming up somewhere...
Best of 2016
That first period last night was the best hockey they played all of 2016. Hopefully we get to see three of those periods put together preferably in one game for 2017.
Same Old Cliches
Very tiresome !!! When do these guys STOP TALKING the cliché talk and just START DOING ????? Start walking that talk !!! I am sick and tired hearing the same empty promises and nonsense year after year -- "It's embarrassing ... it's disappointing ... need more energy ... stopped doing the little things ... failed to respond ... need better effort ... gotta be better ... next game's another opportunity ..." and on and on and on some more ad nauseum, game after game (similar comments keep repeating), week after week, month after month, season after season !!!! I would rather the reporters stop asking for/publishing these inane and hollow comments, and I wish the players would just shut up and DO what they are supposed to !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never heard this drivel during the 1970s !!! Then again those teams were GOOD (and even if they weren't that good yet during the first two years in franchise history, they were always entertaining and full of hustle). Today's players clearly demonstrate NO PRIDE -- they just take their $$$.
