A sore foot has kept Sabres first round selection Zack Kassian off of the ice the first two days at Sabres development camp. The forward is spending his time in the weight room while he waits for the injury to heal.
Kassian, the 13th overall pick in the 2009 NHL Draft, hopes to hit the ice by the end of camp on Friday. He says the injury is not serious, but rather just wants to be cautious. The Windsor, Ontario native has used his time off the ice to observe the habits of his new teammates, to understand the work ethic that is needed to make it to the NHL: "they work so hard off the ice...to get in shape and to do the little things off the ice to be a good player."
One of the players Kassian is learning from is defenseman Mike Weber. The 6'2" blueliner played junior hockey in Windsor and spends his summer months there as well. Weber is participating in his fourth development camp, and doesn't mind being the veteran.
Weber was paired with 6'8" defenseman Tyler Myers during drills. The pair yielded little room to maneuver for on-coming forwards, lowering the boom along the boards several times against the opposition. Myers is in camp for the second straight year after being selected 12th overall by Buffalo in the 2008 draft. Weber was impressed with the stick skills of Myers and his ability to move quickly with such a big frame.
The Sabres development camp continues at Dwyer Arena on the campus of Niagara University through Friday.

Seriously, all of these trades are ridiculous. I don't want Kaberle and I GUARANTEE he won't ever be a Sabre. Roy will not get traded. Darcy is content with this team, or so it seems. If anyone is added that is a big name I'll be shocked. Stop living in fantasy world

Since when do we trade away picks other than at the deadline? I love how "rumors" start. Darcy probably just picked up the phone and asked Burke what the asking price would be. *gasp* Cue the rumor-mill. So we're supposed to trade away a highly touted 1st round pick in Stafford, who is still under our control, plus future pick(s) for a guy who is a decent offensive d-man who is signed just through the next two years? I'm sorry but there are better options available in FA, at a lower $ amount as well probably. And the only conceivable way I see Roy even considered to be moved is if the Briere talk of being shipped back here are true, and I'd call that a long shot at best.

But it won't happen. First they have to find a trade partner for either Lydman or Tallinder, hopefully the later. Then they need to sign McKee, which would be great, but does he want to really come back to Buffalo? I would atleast make an effort, Mckee would be intersting.
