Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) -- Ales Kotalik will play tonight after missing seven games with a hamstring injury. He skated on a line with Adam Mair and Andrew Peters. Lindy Ruff says Peters will play because of the chippy nature of the Predators. Defenseman Craig Rivet will miss tonight's game due to an undisclosed injury. Nathan Paetsch will dress in Rivet's place.
Only Anaheim has killed more penalties than Nashville. The past few times Buffalo and Nashville have played, cheap shots by Scott Nichol and Jordan Tootoo even got Nichol suspended. Nichol also is the one that gave Tim Connolly a cheap shot to the head in a preseason game in Rochester that ended Connolly's season.
Pat Kaleta got barreled into the wall by Andrei Kostitsyn Saturday. Lindy Ruff says he has a neck injury and may miss some time.
Maxim Afinogenov looks to be the forward scratch which seems a little weird since Ruff thought he played his best game of the season Friday against Pittsburgh. The defenseman scratch is still in question.
Ruff said other players are hurt, but wouldn't say who. Toni Lydman has blocked close to 20 shots in the past two games, but Ruff says Lydman is fine.
Getting back to the return of Kotalik, he started the season with four goals in four games. He's only scored one since covering 12 games. The Sabres lucked out as they never had to have a shootout while their best shootout player was injured. He will be on the pregame tonight as Schopp and the Bulldog get you primed for the game beginning at 6:00.
