NFL Draft Report

By Joe Buscaglia

LB Miles Burris, San Diego State

Miles Burris, #9
San Diego State
6'2", 241 lbs., 23 years old
Granite Bay, CA
2011: 77 tackles, 19.5 TFL, 8 sacks
2010: 79 tackles, 18 TFL, 7.5 sacks, 4 FF
2009: 58 tackles, 6 TFL, 1.5 sacks
2008: 19 tackles, 1.5 TFL

PROS
- A total effort player. Never gives up on a play, never stops going full speed.
- A solid tackler who brought down the ball carrier in the backfield a whopping 45 times in his four year career.
- Good reaction time off the snap on blitzes. Does that to try and make up for other deficiencies.

CONS
- Not an overly explosive player. Depends on his effort to make plays, but doesn't have the rare skill of most NFL players.
- Struggles with switching directions. Can't flip his hips very well.
- Below average speed.
- Lunges for many of his tackles.

Special Notes:
- Turns 24 in June.

Projection: 6th to 7th round
- When you watch Burris, you think he has special teams written all over him. I don't think he'll ever be a starter, but he'll be a high energy guy that just sticks on somebody's roster.
