Lee Evans Speaks

JoeB@wgr550.com

Following a disappointing loss underneath the nation's microscope, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Lee Evans was unavailable for comments to the media.

Tuesday night, however, was a different story. Evans fielded questions about the disappointing 29-27 loss to the Cleveland Browns during his weekly program on WGR Sports Radio 550.

"It was definitely frustrating to go through a game like that when you're running routes knowing that you really don't have a chance to get the ball," said Evans. It's already been well documented that he was held without a catch for the first time since his rookie season.

Evans spoke about the defense Cleveland was running, and that most their opponents over the last several weeks have used as well. In order to take away the deep passes and force Buffalo to run the football, the Browns rushed merely three down lineman for the majority of the game and dropped the remaining eight defenders in to coverage.

"Even with the soft zones and trying to throw, there were still opportunities to make some plays. It's not that you can't throw against a soft zone but you have to be able to run it a little bit and be able to mix in the pass a little bit to really be effective."

Evans and WGR's Jeremy White then touched upon what the three turnovers early on did to the offensive mindset for the rest of the game. "From an offensive standpoint as a whole,  it may create a little bit more of conservativeness to just run short passes and try to just run the ball," said Evans.

You can hear the rest of the show in our audio vault on the front page. Tune in to the Lee Evans Show next Monday, November 24 as part of Buffalo Football Monday on WGR Sports Radio 550.
