Levy and Thomas reunite on air

nick@wgr550.com

(WGR 550) -- Former Bills head coach Marv Levy joined Thurman Thomas and The Bulldog on Buffalo Football Monday's Extra Point show, and Levy touched on a number of topics and memories.

On Sunday's win over Miami...

"It's fun to beat anybody, but with Miami, maybe it's a little special there," Levy said.

On his new book: "Game changers: The Greatest Plays in Bills History" (written with Jeff Miller)...

"I was at a social event in Chicago and the publisher approached me and it sounded like fun," Levy said. "Some fond memories were evoked for me, and I hope it works for the fans, too."

(He'll be doing book signings tonight at Wegmans in Amherst and Tuesday at Barnes & Noble on McKinley Parkway in the Southtowns)

Thurman Thomas on Marv's effect on the Bills....

"Marv showed us how to do that in a different way," Thomas said. "He was a guy who kept telling us, 'Don't ever give up,'."

What Levy said you need in a coach...

Levy said that what you look for in a coach should be three things: a good teacher, someone who works well with everyone in the organization and is a straight-shooter.

Levy on Dick Jauron's dismissal...

"I was sad to see the change made. I think Dick would've succeeded over a period of time. I'm just guessing, but I think Mr. Wilson wanted some time," Levy said.

Levy on what an interim coach does...

"You don't try to make too many changes in what you've been doing," Levy said. "You just go to work and you try to teach as well as you can. You don't look for tricks and gimmicks."

Levy on Bill Polian...

"I talked with him last week," Levy said. "Bill is maybe my closest friend in football... He's the best general manager ever in football. People remember Bill for his hot temper, but it was always in defense of the people he was working with."

"I don't think he's planning on staying much longer as general manager of the Colts, and I think his son is in line (to replace him)."

Levy is a moron
Levy loves Dick Jauron. Jauron was his pick for coach while Levy was Bills GM. No wonder we lost 4 Superbowls in a row. Bill Polian was the rteason the Bills were good from 1990-1994. Levy was a villiage idiot. Remember the bickering Bills? Levy had no control over the team. Then Levy ruins the Bills when he came in as GM. I never want to hear Levy's name again!

You are a moron.

I agree Levy is a moron
I completely agree with the first comment on here. Couldn't have said it better myself. The guy loses 4 Superbowls in a row and Bills fans hold him up on some kind of pedistal???? The he comes in as GM and does a horrible job. Remember people, Levy picked Dick Jauron as coach and still thinks he was a good coach for the Bills. Levy also picked and loves Trent Edwards. See a pattern here? I do. Levy has no clue. I agree it was Polian who had the Bills great during the late 80's and early 90's. Levy was the main reason the Bills never won the big won.

LEVY
second that, a half-wit could have coached those Bill's teams to the Superbowl. It took a REAL coach to WIN it - Bill P, Jimmy J etc.

It was funny
How Bulldog kissed Levy's butt talking all of the crap about him!

Love Marv
Say what you will Marv was the coach in the Bills best moments- he is now a Hall of Famer- I'm sure you are smarter than him tough. We (I but that sounds too gay) love you Marv.

Levy
His comment on the Interm head coach speaks volumes, "You don't try to make too many changes." The team has been horrible and if you want the job you try to make changes and improve, Fewell has changed running back and QB's, he is also showing differant defensive packages. He has obvisouly made big changes not sure if Levy is not watching the games or just losing it, but that sounds to me like the route that Jauron would have taken.

I'm better than Levy
I think I could have won the same amount of games that Levy did. The only reason he is a hall of famer is because of all the hall of famers around him. How could you lose with possibly 5 hof players?
11/30/2009 11:37PM
Oh Levy
Levy lost 4 straight Super Bowls, and is the man responsible for bringing in Dick Jauron, thus setting back our franchise another 6 years. Enough said.

Stop Please!
Why are we even talking about Levy here? He is an old man who is senile just like Ralph. The only reason people are mentioning his name now is cause he is trying to sell another book he wrote. This guy is doing nothing more than cashing in on WNY and Buffalonian's misplaced love for him and the Bills during their run to the superbowls back in the early 90s. Does Levy realize that Buffalo fans can't stand him now. Looking back it is clear that the Bills team was good but Levy failed them as a coach. Plus, Levy as GM was a total bust. Levy brings in Jauron and still says to this day that Jauron is a great coach. Levy aslo brings in Trent Edwards and still says he is a NFL caliber QB and should still be the starting QB for Buffao. Levys time has come and gone. I wish he would just go away.

Levy
Probably the most successful coach or one of them in the NFL. This guy put Buffalo on the map and now you criticise him? This is typical Buffalo fan crap, that I hear all the time after games. Stay away from the beer and think for a change.
