Michael Sam, led the SEC Conference in sacks with 11.5 and 19 tackles for loss. He was an All-American and the Associated Press' Defensive Player of the Year. Right now, Sam is rated as the 12th-best outside pass rusher in the draft by ESPN Scouts Inc. With all of this hype about Michael Sam, there is one more thing he can add to his story. Yesterday in an interview with ESPN Outside the Lines, Sam told the world that he is an openly gay man.
Sam, who said came out to his teammates and coaches last August during preseason training camp decided to come out to the world Sunday. Right now Michael Sam is preparing for the NFL Draft. Being Drafted will mean that Sam will be the first openly gay player in the history of the NFL.
.... i cant wait to read the idiot blather on this comment board!! here we go!!
what isn't gay nowadays???
Did Anyone Ask Him A Question
Why do "sodomites" (Bible word) have to tell anyone their sexual orientation (no one is asking). Those that are heterosexual do not advertise their sexuality. I can see a lawsuit against the NFL coming on if he doesn't get drafted! His main objective (all sodomites objective) is to be accepted by everyone no matter your beliefs. I wish he would have kept quiet and had just gone out and proved himself out on the field.
A Big Story Mostly For The Sports Talking Heads
Gives you guys something to talk about on your shows. Especially in Buffalo where the sport talk shows ignore every other sport except hockey and football. Now you can talk about something else other than the Sabres and their tanking, for a little while anyway. As for an openly gay player on a professional sports team, only the leagues, some of the owners and some of the players may have issues. Why would it or should it affect the fans as long as they can play? I will take a whole team of homosexuals that can win a cup or super bowl over a team of heterosexuals that can't. No, I think a gay pro football player is only a big issue because those in the media want it to be.
why is this news? this guy just sees dollar signs being the "first to come out"
.... we were getting somewhere with the "sodomite" brain-drool! I was expecting more though. C'mon, mouth-breathing idiots absolutely TOOK OVER espn boards! I'm kinda bummed.
Sign him up...
for Oprah already...were waaaay overdue for more media on who's gay now.
re:did anyone ask him
literally EVERYTHING you have said is wrong. way to be "politically correct" (but not really), while throwing in a religious reference (kind of), and all at the same time of pretending your comment is about player conduct on the field. "heterosexuals do not advertise their sexuality"...have you ever watched TV or read anything at all in the history of your life? The BIBLE is full of heterosexual/sexist advertising if you want to throw around some vague religious statements. give me a break man, if you actually only care about what he does on the field then why would you comment in the first place? and stop trying to hide your cowardly, homophobic stance behind the veil of religious tradition. That Jesus guy was pretty accepting eh? try acting like that and maybe educate yourself in the process.
Here is where all the Bible toters get all rightous and judgemental
otherwise who cares. The Bible is like an owners's manual that is 300 years out of date. Just look at the blind who follow it to the letter.
as a member of the 99%
who are HETEROSEXUAL...not 'straight', are simply tired of the propagandizing herein.
What is 'gay'?
A euphemism designed to hide the issue.I am a heterosexual and dont care about him...unless the proselytizing starts. Its not, and never will be, some 'new Normal'. Stop telling me that two guys are married and its just the same as my wife and I.
Its biologically incorrect.
That said i dont care really if he is or not. I do wonder about what a player thinks about if he is dressing next to man who ,by definition, is sexually aroused by other men. If he so much as hints at all towarde another man he could really open a hornets nest...
I am so sick of this , it doesn't matter to me if he's gay or not , why does he have to tell the world ? keep it to yourself and live your life , he said himself in his interview that he just wants to be known as a football player, fine so beplay football and shut up. I cant help but think that he wants to profit of this, his or anyone elses sexual orientation is none of my concern ,
Boy i knew this was comming.
Hey you are gay great for you. The question is can you play football at the pro level. But if you can't we don't want to waste a pick on you. We don't need to hear through the whole season about your personal life. Like mj you to say keep it in the closet. We don't need distraction from the press about it either. Because whom every team you go to, you are going to be treated like a rookie. You will be on that team to help your teamates win. Yuo want be getting specail favors. You are going to follow rules just like everybody else. What you do in your spare time is your life. As long as it dosen't hurt your team and the people you work for. And please don't start bringing up the bible. Because thats a sin in itself. Some people might say why would that be. Because we are not god; only he got the right to judge not us. And beside as far as i'm concern; their is not no one on this earth who is perfect. Including myself. So if you can play the game then play. But don't try to make this as front page news. because it isn't. All this is just the reporters to make old news into new news. Which isn't news at all. let hear about an update on jaruis byrd. Now thats news.
re: 'did anyone ask him'
Apparently you missed the part in the bible about' ye who is without sin cast the first stone'. Not surprising since you people only quote what is convenient to your cause whatever that cause may be.
Owners, GM's, Coaches, and players give their support
What a crock that is. Please don't insult our intelligence telling us how owners, coaches and etc support this guy. In reality they wouldn't sign this guy if he was the last pass rusher on earth. In this 'politically correct' world all press releases from the NFL will be in his support. No brainer here.
Glad no one said San Franciso has him on their radar.
