Murray: No trade talks during Olympics

Buffalo Sabres' general manager Tim Murray was in attendance for Sunday's Rochester Americans game against the Texas Stars. In a 10 minute chat with several media members, Murray said that trade talks have been dead during the Olympic break, saying the only communication he has had with other general managers is one text message.

Murray also provided the answer to a common question from Sabres fans: If the team trades Ryan Miller, who will be the goalie? Buffalo's new GM said it will not be either Matt Hackett or Nathan Lieuwen this season.

"If one of them is the goalie of the future, it's not the near future," said Murray.

In terms of what the Sabres will do if they move other players such as Matt Moulson or Steve Ott, Murray hinted that veterans will be the first to move up to their spots in Buffalo. He said playoff experience is important for young players.

"I don't want to take all the kids from [Rochester] and leave the other kids in limbo," said Murray.  "I would like to see this team succeed this year."

Murray praised the Sabres/Amerks relationship.  "When you have to start using planes and stuff like that to get players when you need right away, it's a tough situation.  This to me is the greatest situation in the league."
