NHL announces awards, Crosby takes Hart



For the 2nd time in his career Sidney Crosby has won the Hart Trophy, awarded to the NHL’s most valuable player. Crosby won the scoring title, scoring 104 points, including 68 assists. This is his first Hart Trophy since winning it as a 19-year-old.

Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask takes home the Vezina Trophy, as the NHL’s best goaltender. Rask led his team to a 54-19-9 record, boasting a 2.04 GAA and 7 shutouts.

Hall of fame goaltender Patrick Roy has won the Jack Adams award in his first season as head coach for the Colorado Avalanche. Roy coached his team to a 52-22-8 record, finishing second in the Western Conference.

Patrice Bergeron of the Boston Bruins won his second Frank J. Selker Trophy, awarded to the leads best defensive forward. Duncan Keith was awarded the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s best defenseman.

Anaheim Ducks general manager Bob Murray was named the NHL’s GM of the year. The Ducks had the best record in the Western Conference this season, and have won the Pacific Division the past 2 seasons.
