NFL Draft Report

By Joe Buscaglia

OT James Carmon, Mississippi State

James Carmon, #77
Mississippi State
6'7", 320 lbs., 22 years old
Baltimore, MD

PROS
- Fantastic size for the position.
- Played left tackle in the most NFL ready conference in America.
- Former defensive player, has a bit of a mean streak to him.
- Shows some nice flashes in run blocking.

CONS
- A raw, raw prospect. Has played only one year on the offensive line.
- You can tell he's still in his mind trying to think too much on plays and it tends to take him out of it sometimes.
- A long way to go in pass blocking.
- Struggles recognizing a delayed blitz and has whiffed on his man.
- Long-term, practice squad developmental project.

Special Notes:
- Turns 23 in February 2012.
- A converted defensive lineman as of one season ago.
- Player junior college football at Mississippi Gulf Coast CC

Projection: Late rounds to Undrafted
- While there are some very nice tools there to work with, Carmon will likely be a very late selection or an undrafted free agent to some team. Whichever team picks him up has some work to do to develop him in to a potential NFL player.
