REPORT: Jeffrey Gundlach Interested in Buying Bills; Contacts Jim Kelly

Bond investor and Amherst native Jeffrey Gundlach has expressed interest in purchasing the Buffalo Bills, according to Tim Graham of the Buffalo News.

According to Graham, Gundlach has reached out to Hall-of-Famer Jim Kelly about potentially forming a group to bid on the team.

Gundlach currently lives in Los Angeles, but has stated in the past he would not move the Bills if he were to eventually purchase the team. Gunlach currently serves as the CEO and Chief Investment Officer of DoubleLine Capital.  He is also the largest shareholder of the company, which is worth around $50 billion in assets.

Do the quotes mean he doesn't live in LA?
07/09/2014 8:54PM
let me when its over
I'm tired of it,,, Local ownership, downtown stadium. that's it, nothing else. I don't even want to hear of nia falls. they have one of the wonders of the world and within 2 blocks it s a ghetto. I'd rather it be in LA than the Falls. I've sidetracked!!! I get annoyed that we have to attach 'Niagara' to anything Buffalo. We don't need them

WAY WAY WAY better than Pegula, Gundlach has previously said he'd keep the team in his hometown
I could go on about that statement, short and simple Gundlach would be a far better owner. Settling for Pegula is the same as saying "as long as they stay in Buffalo, even though they'll never be a winner I'll grab it". Sad, but a very true mentality by many in WNY. Pegula has proven to be flaky, unsteady, a meddler, he is a nice guy (not to Mother Nature), but a poor owner. Pegula gets very mediocre grades in NHL owner rankings.

Means the ideal place if you want to move a team

Bills Ownership.
I want the best ownership in place who is committed to the Buffalo region. Pegula has not been the greatest Sabres ownership per say. ( bad team ) but his commitment to learning how to be a great sport team owner is there. Look at the new hockey town he is building canal side. Look at who he brought in after things fell apart. One cannot help Lafontaine quit. It was a great start. Lets hope Murry pulls the storied franchise back from the bottom into cup contender and winner. The Buffalo Bills need an owner who is committed to Buffalo and the region. A owner that understands it will take Billions for the purchase of the team and a new stadium. Extreme dedication and effort will be needed to bring this team and franchise back to it's 90's glory.

Does it really matter where he lives? Ralph lived in Detroit.

i don't trust this goatee
not for $25 billion do i trust that goatee

Not everyone is as smitten with him as much as Jeremy White and the rest of the Sabres employees on WGR. Another local owner committed to keeping the team here would be a nice alternative to King Pegula. Don't underestimate Kelly and Brandon brokering the deal with the Wilsons.Stick to the lovefest with Murray all you WGR and Pegula employees!!!

Pegula/Real Deal
This man is probably the best thing to happen to Buffalo since the death of the steel industry. He has a genuine desire to put this city and it's sports teams back on the map. These things take time and I think a person has to be quite young or simply a bit ignorant not to realize this.

listen,im not concerned with who purchases the team as much as I am concerned with the intentions behind it,A)making sure that the Bils remain in buffalo, and B)the dedication and commitment to making & keeping us a perennial playoff & SuperBowl contender...would be nice to be able sustain a high level of excellence for a long long time as other organizations have shown...

What to be looking for at the Ralph
Bekins Van Lines rigs in a holding pattern.

It's the devil we know vs the devil we don't know syndrome...
We know Pegula and know if he purchases the Bills they will not leave Buffalo. We do not know this potential bidder. He is from Amherst and has stated he would not move the team but there is no confidence in him from me. I would still rather see Pegula get the team. It's the devil that I know.

Why do this to yourself?
No one outside the Billionaire's club knows what criteria that is in place by the trust. We have no idea if local ownership is one of criteria or location we know nothing. As far as we know it's going to highest bidder approved by the NFL owners another Billionaires Sub-Category club. Enjoy this season like it's your last it might be it might not be, but then again it might be so let go what you can't control ( you do know you can't right?)and get into the season and the promise it holds. Because while your worrying about this that promise could be gone by week 4 and then it's the Sabres and the promise of more pain.

Los Angeles, Toronto, Doesn't matter....
If this team moves - even as close as Toronto - they might as well be on another planet. I will not follow them, cheer for them, nada. Once the Braves went (now the LA Clippers), they were dead to me and the same will be true of this team.

...Let Pegula in! NEVER! NEVER! NEVER! Besides Pegula never seriously considered buying the Bills... it's all about a chance to "look good" at the dance! Euphorians eat that crappe up. Don't forget THE reality at "CANAL SIDE"... THE CROWN JEWEL WALMART= "THEEE BIGGEST NICKLE AND DIME LOoSER FRANCHISE, THAT'S $30 MILLION DOLLARS "BELOW" THE SALARY CAP, IN THE HISTORY OF PRO SPORTS"!!! SAY MY NAME... THE ELITE ONE!
07/10/2014 1:47PM
Yeah! the NFL would love an owner who TARGETS LAST PLACE!!!
07/10/2014 2:26PM
Jeffrey Gundlach
Bad idea.. the man owns an investment firm. From what I've seen in the past, investment firms like to put in as little money as possible for a bigger return. I don't think this guy wouldn't care if we are winning. He just wants to pull in as much money for his investors before he either sells it himself or moves it to a larger market. Thumbs Down!
07/10/2014 2:36PM
Out of the woodwork
The potential owners are coming out of the woodwork now. Somehow, I have the feeling despite the merry go round of the same potential suspects "rumoured" to be interested in buying the team, the actual buyer, will be someone who has yet to be mentioned, or has had, up until now, very little publicity. No matter who it is, if the team is to stay in Buffalo, be prepared "WNY taxpayer" to open your wallet big time and I am not even talking about a new stadium yet.

Re: Pegula
Not many like Jeremy White and the rest of the idiots. It's time to pull the plug on 'GR.

To all you people putting down Pegula... You are MORONS, plain and simple!

Buffalo Bills Forever
I agree.....does anyone remember that Ralph Wilson lived in Detroit the whole time he was the owner of the Bills........
07/12/2014 8:39PM
To all you people putting UP Pegula... You are DEAD LAST, plain and simple!!!!!!
