Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) -- According to NFL.com’s Adam Schefter, the Bills will not rush Trent Edwards back from his concussion which makes his status very uncertain for week 7.
The Bills are currently on a bye and Edwards hasn’t practiced all week. His concussion did appear to be severe in the Bills’ 41-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5.
Edwards was injured early in the first quarter when he was sacked by strong safety Adrian Wilson. Wilson was fined $25,000 by the NFL, after the league viewed the hit as an unnecessary violent hit on the quarterback. Since it was Wilson’s 15th foul, the league warned him about stiffer punishments if another incident like this were to occur.
Edwards was replaced by J.P. Losman in the devastating loss. Losman can be a capable backup, and since Buffalo has only one loss they can be cautious with Edwards. Losman completed 15 of his 21 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns along with an interception in relief of Edwards last week.
The Bills will face San Diego next week, and it appears Losman may get his first start of the season. Listen to WGR 550 all week for the latest developments on Edwards condition.
