Nine games into his fourth season, Dick Jauron has been removed as the head coach of the Buffalo Bills. Owner Ralph Wilson issued the following statement:
“I am announcing today that I am relieving Dick Jauron from his duties as our head coach, effective immediately. I have tremendous respect for Dick and thank him for all of his efforts during these past four years. While this was a very difficult decision, I felt that it is one that needed to be made at this time for the best interest of our team. We will now focus on moving forward and preparing for our game this week in Jacksonville.”
Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell has been named the team’s interim head coach.
In each of his three seasons as head coach, Jauron’s teams finished 7-9.
In December of 2008, the team gave the coach a contract extension. The length and financial terms of the deal were never made public. 2001 was Jauron’s only winning season. He guided the Bears to a 13-3 record and was named the NFL head coach of the year.
Thurman Thomas wasn’t basking in the glow of Jauron’s termination.
“It’s a sad day for Dick Jauron and his family.I know he’s been around here in the community for a long, long time.They got to know a lot of people.You never want anybody to lose a job.His record indicates that he wasn’t a good coach here, but you know what, they’re still human beings, and we have to respect that.”
The former Bills great hopes Jauron is the beginning of a wholesale overhaul.
“Just because this happened, doesn’t mean it’s going to get better.You have to bring in, whomever, or do whatever, to make the right changes.It could be something like Terrell Owens last year.They brought him in and that was the excitement.Just because you fire Dick Jauron today, you have to
keep making those steps.
ESPN's John Clayton told Mike Schopp and the Bulldog that Jauron met with Wilson in detroit yesterday.
It's about a season too late, but better late than never.

First step...
Hopefully this is the 1st step in the right direction. Get a PROVEN coach in here. A real football GM, and a good scouting/ personnel department. Put Russ Brandon back where he belongs in Marketing and not a GM. The only negative is how much they still owe him!!! AAARRRGGGHHH! The last thing they need is to get into cap trouble especially w/ what may happen w/ the CBA.

Bobby April isn't the interim head coach? With as good as the special teams have been this year? I'm sure he could fix Edwards after the great job he did with Roscoe Parrish. Corto could go in at linebacker to help out since he's so disciplined for his roster eating seven plays a game. Unless Brandon/Guy/Modrak are accompanying Dick out the door, we're still doomed.
They probably won't be able to afford him but Schottenheimer could eb doable. You might want to do a little research before you go saying Schottenheimer blows. He clearly gets his team to the playoffs and for now I will take that over the steamign pile of garbage we have had here the last 10 years!
