Report: Pettine's third interview for negotiations

(WGR 550) -- The Buffalo Bills may have to enact their strategy for life without defensive coordinator Mike Pettine. According to one report, the third interview that is taking place in Cleveland on Thursday is for more than just talking.

Will Burge of Bleacher Report writes that the head coaching search for the Cleveland Browns have zeroed in on Pettine, and that he will be chosen as the head coach to replace Rob Chudzinski. The third interview, according to Burge and his sources, is for contract negotiations. If a deal is reached, he will be the new head coach.

On the flip side, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Pettine has not yet been decided upon as the Browns new head coach. A Browns spokesman told Cabot that no decision has been made, and that it may or may not happen on Thursday.

If Pettine takes the job in Cleveland, the Bills have publicly stated that they have a plan in place to replace and replenish their coaching staff. It is not clear at this point in time whether the next defensive coordinator, if it were to happen, would come from inside or outside the building.

WGR Sports Radio 550 will be on the scene in Cleveland, be sure to stay up to date on the latest with the Browns coaching search that now affects the Bills.
