(WGR 550) -- The Ottawa Senators are red-hot in every facet imaginable coming into Wednesday's contest at HSBC Arena. They've won nine games in a row to pull within five points of the Sabres' Northeast Division lead, and Buffalo has a pitiful 8-20-3 record in their last 32 games against Ottawa.
The Senators big guns have been solid on their win streak, mostly because they've been healthy for the first time since early this season. Daniel Alfredsson, Milan Michalek and Jason Spezza are all back in the line-up for Ottawa, who did lose forward Nick Foligno for six-to-eight weeks in their last game.
Buffalo will likely suit up Ryan Miller between the pipes, whose rough outing in Pittsburgh didn't cost him NHL leads in goals against average (2.13) and save percentage (.932). He'll need to stand strong as usual, with the Senators boasting a 10-3-3 record in their last 16 games at HSBC Arena.
who cares if the Sabres win. The Big Story is the 3 players obtained By brilliant Burke were the top 3 stars last night as they toyed with New jersey. Again Regeir humiliated and exposed as horrible. Enjoy the inevitable golf course Euphorics and subsequent excuse making i hear every year "the deals weren't there" go bring in another Zubrus to "tweak us" Darcy! Brilliant!

RE: who cares
How was he exposed? because he didnt want to trade half our roster for 1 player? you sir are an idiot. read nick mendolas blog and understand that we couldnt make that move.

re:who cares
yea that was a amazing deal by that moron burke, bringing in another overpaid, underperforming d-man, to go with the other 3 he already has, and bringing in an old broken down goaltender that best years are far behind him, all the while giving up 3 of his top 4 best forwards, yea thats such a great deal, i'm glad they made it cause now i have to worry even less about that joke of a team they might not beat the sabres for another year or 2 the way they make such stupid moves

Just Accept It
Accept the horrible play from the forwards tonight and give Miller a rest. Let Lalime play tonight and the rest of the weekend. If he's holding his own this year we should be able to win 2 of the 3.

Bigger fish to fry than Ottawa
Lets face it the Sabres tolling through this season "as is" amounts to nothing more than ticket punching through a turn style. This team is still short of players in order to seriously compete for a championship now or in the the near future. The GM continues to fiddle while the trade irons are hot. GET MOVING DARCY!

Burke Humiliated
That his team is 24 pts behind Regier's team. Last year, Toronto finished 10 pts behind Buffalo. The Laffs are going backwards. The Sabres are moving forward. Keep pimping the 28th best team in the league...

i feel it man
i read these comments and sense disgust by the euphorics at Regeir and fear of the leafs. BTW Moron burke? you mean Moron who has a cup? how many does Regeir have? I'll always win that one..

Fight 'em tonight
Pick a fight with Alfredsson and go from there. I am tired of these guys coming into our house and dictating play. Beat 'em up Kaleta! Go get them.

Nobody Cares What Burked did in Anaheim
Everyone's been pimping the Leafs since he got there. He's currently shepherded them to the #14 seed in the East. All the Burke lovers were lauding his every move this summer. How'd that work out for them? He gave up possibly the #1 pick in the draft for a 65 pt/year player in Kessel. He's failed so far, and there's no argument to the contrary.

re: nobody
well if the Bruins were able to get so much for Kessel, why didn't Darcy make the same deal for Connolly? after all Land Developer says he's alfredson.

sabresfan
With Ruutuu, Carkner, Kelly, and old friend Chris Neil Ruff needs some muscle in the lineup, so he benches Montador for Sekera. With Kaleta out of the lineup, the timing is bad. I expect the Senators to take liberties with the sabres and they will have no answer. As for Darcy, he will again wait and wait and wait -- until all the available players are again and he will have to settle for a Corkum type again. Say what you will but general managers have to have some courage and on occasion take a chance for the big prize.

I'm Prepped
For another loss by the Sabres. Start trading now before this all collapses which will happen if nothing gets done. Might just be that time for a firing.

Montador?
Is Montador really playing worse than Rivet? Seriously? Rivet was the worst d-man on the ice against Pittsburgh. He is old, beat up, slow & timid. He does not stand up for his teammates, he does not score, he gives up too many odd man rushes because he can't get back into position anymore & Montador gets benched. Rivet must be on the "Pomminville No Bench" list. Hope they play Miller again because his last few games have been far from "elite". The 4 he gave up in the 2nd against Pittsburgh were bush league. I don't blame him as much as the fact that he does not get enough rest since the Sabres spend all their money on "super"stars like Vanek & sign whoever is out in front of HSBC to play backup goalie. When is it ever going to change? Why do the fans continue to sell out home games for this average over-achieving team? If I could get people to pay me $10 for a $1 product I could retire in a year! Make some moves or unload some salaries!

Kessel
What a joke - 2 1st Rounders and a 2nd for him! Good work Burke-the only bad thing for the Sabres is the Bruins will get a potential franchise player.
