Sabres Airborne to Atlanta The Sabres held a skate Monday morning before departing for Atlanta and game two of a five-game road trip. Buffalo will visit the Thrashers Tuesday night. Drew Stafford is getting closer to a return to action. Stafford skated without contact as he recovers from a groin injury. Head Coach Lindy Ruff says that there's a chance the forward could play at some point during this trip.

Mancari headed back to Portland (WGR 550) -- WGR's Paul Hamilton is reporting that winger Mark Mancari has been sent to Portland. Mancari has a goal and an assist in four games as a Sabre this year, registering a plus-3 rating.

Regier Talks Head Shots, GM Meetings Sabres GM Darcy Regier checked in with Mike Schopp and The Bulldog before Friday's game against the Minnesota Wild. Regier is back in town from the NHL general managers meetings in Florida, where the big issue was how to deal with hits to the head.

Ruff sees team "turn the corner" (WGR 550) -- Coming off two much-needed victories that happened to need overtime, Lindy Ruff sees his Buffalo Sabres team putting good things together.
"Every game is tight," Ruff said during his weekly 8 a.m. Tuesday appearance on The Howard Simon Show. "It was good to see us battle hard in both those contests. I thought our club turned the corner."

Gaustad Skates On His Own Sabres forward Paul Gaustad took the ice and skated on his own on Saturday morning, four days after sustaining an upper-body injury against the Penguins. Gaustad appeared to suffer the injury to his hand during a third period fight with Mike Rupp during the loss.
The Sabres, coming off an overtime win over the Flyers on Friday to snap a two-game losing skid, will visit the New York Rangers on Sunday.

Darcy Regier On Deadline Day Sabres GM Darcy Regier addressed the media following the trades that sent Nathan Paetsch and a 2nd round draft pick to Columbus for F Raffi Torres and Clarke MacArthur to Atlanta in exchange for a 3rd and 4th round pick.
Regier first thanked Paetsch and MacArthur for their time in Buffalo.
"They have been tremendous Buffalo Sabres. They're both draft picks, have grown with us and we wish them well."

Gaustad To Miss At Least a Week Sabre forward Paul Gaustad will miss at least one week of hockey with an upper body injury. Gaustad suffered the injury during Tuesday night's loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Coach Lindy Ruff would not provide details of the injury.

Ennis Named AHL Rookie Of The Month; Pirates On The Move? Sabres prospect Tyler Ennis has been named the AHL's rookie of the month for February. The 20-year old had 17 points in 14 games for the Portland Pirates, including six goals. During the month, the Pirates went from fourth to first place in the Atlantic Division.
Ennis was selected 26th in the 2008 NHL Draft by the Sabres. Right now he leads all AHL rookies with 19 goals (tied), 40 assists and 59 points. He played one game with the Sabres this season -- scoring a goal in Buffalo's 3-2 win over the Flyers on November 14th.
