The Buffalo Sabres defeated the New York Islanders 3-2 on Long Island on Saturday night.
First Period
Thomas Vanek continued his incredible scoring pace by opening Friday night's game at 9:11 of the first period to give the Sabres a 1-0 lead.
Toward the end of the period, Islanders forward John Tavares scored a goal after Sabres defenseman Christian Ehrhoff fell down.

Second Period
The Sabres continued to get out-shot by the Isles, but Ryan Miller made several terrific saves allowing just one goal in the second.
Christian Ehrhoff stepped into a play at around the 12 minute mark and snapped a shot past Evgeni Nabakov. The Sabres briefly held the lead before Colin McDonald scored on a wrist shot to tie the game at two.

Third Period
The Sabres took the lead 7:35 into the third period when an Alex Sulzer slap shot got past Nabakov to make the game 3-2.
Ryan Miller held strong in the third and stopped a John Tavares penalty shot. After being out-shot 43 to 15, the Sabres come away with a 3-2 win.
