Sabres Schedule Released

The Sabres 2013-2014 schedule has been released. The Sabres will be a part of the new Atlantic Division with their first game slated for October 2nd in Detroit. The Red Wings have moved to the Eastern Conference as part of NHL realignment. That game will air nationally on NBC.

As a part of realignment, the NHL has switched to a 4-division format. The names of the divisions are Atlantic, Pacific, Central, and Metropolitan.

While back-to-back games may have been an issue last season, the Sabres will only play on consecutive nights 13 times in 2013-14. Some of the highlights of the upcoming campaign include a visit from Lindy Ruff and the Dallas Stars on October 8th at the First Niagara Center. Jason Pominville and the Minnesota Wild are in town on October 14th. The Sabres will be on the road on New Years Eve in Winnipeg.

There was a delay in the release of the team schedules as the NHL needed to wait until the issue of player participation in the 2014 Winter Olympics was sorted out. NHL players will be representing their countries in Sochi, Russia. There will be a break in the schedule from February 9th to the 26th for the Winter Games.

There will be six outdoor NHL games this season. The Sabres do not play outside.
