Sabres Shutout by Rangers

The Buffalo Sabres traveled to the newly-renovated Madison Square Garden for the first time this season.

The Sabres got off to a strong start, but struggled as the first period went on. The Rangers took over, taking 19 shots to the Sabres' six in the first period. Midway through the first, a Tyler Myers penalty turned into a goal for New York. Forward Derick Brassard got a screen shot through Ryan Miller for the first talley.

The second period saw the Rangers continue to pelt Miller with shots, 19 in total in the frame. At 11:21, confusion in front of the net turned into the second New York goal by Chris Kreider.

Playing catch-up in the third, the Sabres put several shots on former Vezina Trophy winner Henrik Lundqvist, but were unable to put the puck by the all-world goalie.
