Sabres release variable pricing plan

The Buffalo Sabres announced Wednesday that the team has capped the number of season tickets for the 2010-2011 season at 14,825 and had a renewal rate of 98% from last year. In addition, there are currently over 1,600 members of the Blue and Gold Club which is comprised of individuals on a waiting list for season tickets. The team also unveiled their variable ticket pricing schedule and mini-pack prices for the 2010-2011 regular season.
“Our season ticket holders have been a crucial part of the business success of the Buffalo Sabres in recent years," said Chief Operating Officer Dan DiPofi. "We are extremely grateful for their constant support and passion for our team. As the relationship between our fans and the organization continues to grow, we look forward to celebrating the 40th anniversary of Sabres hockey in Western New York with our community.”

This season’s variable pricing plan will continue to place games into five price classifications: Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Value. These are based on the opponent, time of the year, day of the week, classic rivalries and games against marquee players. The Sabres variable pricing list will feature two Platinum games this season, both against the Toronto Maple Leafs (November 26 and February 5). The team has allocated the remaining 39 games by the categories of Gold (9), Silver (17), Bronze (9) and Value (4).

The Sabres will also be offering Mini-Packs for fans to create their own ticket package choosing anywhere from 5 to 40 games. There are additional savings for those individuals who purchase a mini-pack prior to August 20.  Fans can save up to 10% or up to $24 per-game. After August 20, Mini-Pack holders will receive a $2.00 savings per ticket off of window prices as in years past. All Mini-Pack holders will not pay a ticket service charge and have the ability to purchase playoff tickets before they go on-sale to the general public. (Based on availability). The team is currently taking orders for Mini-Packs.

Problem
Where are the big changes? They cannot be going into the season with this incomplete roster. Is Connolly, Sekera, and Stafford gone yet? Wake up Regeir or just FIRE REGEIR!!!
07/15/2010 12:25PM
Answer this....
With the lack of any significant free agent or trade aquisitions, what exactly are we paying for, given the recent price increases?
07/15/2010 12:39PM
WHO CARES!
This team still needs to make big changes and even though I think Niedermayer is a great signing they still need to improve more before I buy into this team!
07/15/2010 1:05PM
PLAYOFFS!!!!
PLENTY OF GOOD SEATS STILL AVAILABLE!!!! FORRRRRRRRRRREEEE!!!! WHAT A JOKE!
07/15/2010 1:12PM
Idiots
Who cares? Fire Regeir? Who won our conference last year? Calm down! You would think after 20 years of not being big players in free agency and building through the draft and giving young players the chance to shine, you would be used to how the Sabres handle their business. You people amaze me.
07/15/2010 1:17PM
RE:Idiots
Every time this happens, people continue to bad mouth the team. Nobody is forcing you to go or watch for that matter. If you don't like the team, save your money, don't go, and watch the game at home. Simple as that.
07/15/2010 1:26PM
Re: Re: Idiots
By the way we won our DIVISION last year not our CONFERENCE! Big difference there!
07/15/2010 1:27PM
your answer is...
you are paying to see a young team that is Northeast Conference Champs and a team that finished the year with 100 points, and the best goaltender in the world.
07/15/2010 1:29PM
Idiots
We didn't win our conference, we won our divison. Then got knocked out in the FIRST round of the playoffs. If thats good enough for you then spend ur money and enjoy some beers downtown. After 20 plus years of "building through the draft" I ain't spending a dime on the Sabres or Bills!!
07/15/2010 1:35PM
conference/division
you know what he/she meant
07/15/2010 1:39PM
All I'm going for this October...
Is the beersmosphere after a long miserable year in Iraq.
07/15/2010 1:57PM
Re: Idiots
I've been waiting 39 years going on 40 for a cup idiot!!!
07/15/2010 2:10PM
Morons
Stop supporting a crappy product! Only in Buffalo...what a joke
07/15/2010 2:14PM
I Care
I am a season ticket owner that lives in NC, I come back to see MY TEAM when ever I can, There are so many Sabres fans down here that suppoert our team it is great to see, The Sabres are a good product, yes than can be better but be proud ogf our BUFFALOSABRES!! LET'S GO BUFFALO!!!!! See you opening night!
07/15/2010 2:16PM
Just Leave!!!
Is free agency over???? Is the season starting tomorrow??? NO!!!!! I'm so sick of all the negativity in Buffalo. If you hate the team and GM so much then move away, don't watch or don't go to the games. You have options. This city is just full of self pity and negative energy. Go away if you hate the city and team so much. We don't want or need you. Let's Go B-U-F-F-A-L-O!!!!!!!! The city and it's people need a change in attitude.
07/15/2010 2:50PM
Joey
The Sabres will never win the Stanley Cup

RE: Just Leave
Lemming.
07/15/2010 3:36PM
RE:RE:RE:Idiots
You think you've been the only one waiting for a cup? The whole ctiy has been waiting moron. Like the other person posted, if you don't like the team, stay at home and watch the game on TV. People love to complain about anything and everything. Nobody is forcing you to watch or go to the games.
07/15/2010 3:43PM
The Capitals
Won the President's trophy and got knocked out the 1st round too...anything can happen any year. Be happy we have a professional team.
07/15/2010 3:52PM
Love of Hockey
I buy tickets because I love hockey and the Sabres are my team. Not because I expect them to win the Cup.
07/15/2010 3:53PM
RE: The Capitals
At least they are exciting to watch. I'd rather have a fun team that misses the playoffs than a lame team that makes the playoffs. Entertainment value of the Sabres has been next to zero the last 3 years. Every game I've gone to has been a passionless snoozefest.
07/15/2010 3:54PM
Only in Buffalo...
What do you mean only in Buffalo? Of all the ignorant thhings to say... all NFL teams sell out, no matter what team it is and no matter how bad they are. The Leafs sell out every game and they suck. Ignorant fools.
07/15/2010 4:10PM
Pricing
The Sabres have some of the lowest ticket prices in the NHL. If you idiots are so upset about the prices then maybe we should dump our NHL team and get an ECHL team!
07/15/2010 4:27PM
Re: The Capitals....
Well said
07/15/2010 4:41PM
so...
darcy gets a pass because he knows how to build a division champion? No thanks, that is a loser's mentality. I can't believe people continue to pay for this crap and that there is actually a waiting list for season tickets! Drury and Briere are LONG GONE people and aren't coming back. This team is built to be a perrenial first round exit. And i'm not saying go and sign the biggest free agents. All i am saying is you have to be willing to move on from deadweights like stafford and realize guys like roy, connolly and pominville are role players, regardless of how big their contracts are for. I am fine with building a team from within, but don't fall in love with crappy players and refuse to admit you made a mistake. Even steinbrenner signed the occassional hidecki irabu and kevin brown... but he knew that you had to cut your losses and move on if you want to win a championship. I'm not a fan of reiger and never will be.
07/15/2010 4:42PM
The time is now
This team can't wait to "build" anything anymore. They have the best goalie in the league, at his prime, Vanek will never be any better, Connolly is finally healthy and they have the rookie of the year! Now is the time to Go for it! Regier needs to be proactive and fill in the missing pieces now! Let's go for it this year!
07/15/2010 7:24PM
have you every listened to a game?
I live in NC and watch the Sabres as much as I can. The Nhl Network does a good job of recapping games and no matter where the Sabres play, there are throngs of fans. Not just in NC, but FL, ATL, TB, WASH, Phoenix, etc. This team has such a huge following and dedicated fans that to get that same support from those still living in the great city of Buffalo would be a great thing. Everyone always complaining, just gets tiring.
07/15/2010 10:12PM
wow
you people dont deserve no championships expect real fans you people are babies
07/16/2010 6:48AM
Miserable City
Buffalo one of the most miserable cities to live in, one of the poorer cities in the USA...with greedy schmuck sports teams that blow and can never put something real on the field or ice
07/16/2010 11:14PM
I miss Buffalo a bit
I moved to Long Island and work in the City as of 2 weeks ago. I can say I will miss the Sabres and Bills. The Sabres are a good thing, people don't realize this. I'm going to miss them the most. They may not be the best but a lot of the team try hard. Move away from Buffalo then realize how much it's actually a great city filled with amazing people.
