Just as I pronounce the Sabres dead and gone, they’re out to prove me wrong. Buffalo’s gotten some help lately and trail 8th place Toronto and 9th place Winnipeg by seven in the East.

Depending on what the Caps do on Monday the Sabres could be either seven or eight points out of a playoff spot when they face off against the Islanders on Tuesday.

The Sabres drag a three game losing streak into tonight’s game. I don’t know which is worse, two of those three losses came at home or they blew a 2-0 lead in Philadelphia last night only to lose 7-2.

The problem with this Sabres team really isn’t talent. To me it is 80% mental toughness. The toughness that when you play a good period on the road and lead 2-0, you don’t totally go to pieces.

Jhonas Enroth will get the start in net tonight against the Flyers in Philadelphia. Sabre Coach Lindy Ruff wanted to give Ryan Miller some rest with 3 games in 4 days this weekend. The team had an optional skate this morning.

Hecht Finally Has a Positive Outlook

Sabre forward Jochen Hecht had just about hit rock bottom trying to get back on the ice this season. Hecht underwent a procedure on his neck to alleviate pain and is feeling much better. He has suffered 3 concussions in the past 12 months and was devastated by the latest head injury.
