Super Bowl XLIV was a Brees! New Orleans Wins First Championship
Connor Wolfley Reporting
The New Orleans Saints have captured their first Super Bowl Championship, defeating the Indianapolis Colts, 31 to 17. MVP Drew Brees completed 32 of 39 attempts for 288 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. Indianapolis’ Peyton Manning wasn’t too far off of Brees, going 31 for 45 with 333 passing yards and 1 TD. Both men led their respected teams back and forth down the field, making Super Bowl XLIV all about the passing game.
Manning, considered to be one of the best quarterback in the history of the NFL, started the game off with a 19-yard touchdown pass to rookie wide receiver, Pierre Garcon with :36 seconds left in the first quarter. With a 10-0 lead after the first, it began to look like this could be a sad night for the citizens of New Orleans…as well as the Kardashian Family.
Once the second quarter started, Drew Brees began looking like his old self. After a field goal by fellow teammate, Garrett Hartley to make the score 10-3, Brees drove his team down to Indy’s 1. On 4th and goal, New Orleans’ Head Coach, Sean Payton decided to go for it. Unfortunately for the Saints, Gary Brackett had other ideas, reading Pierre Thomas like a book and dropping the running back for no gain. After a 3 and out from Indy, and :35 seconds remaining in the half, Brees and the Saints worked their way down the field, giving their kicker, Garrett Hartley his second field goal of the night making the score 10-6 going into halftime.
With a thirty minute halftime show planned, NFL employees scrambled on the field to set up the stage for “the Who”, leaving youngsters all over the world asking “who dat”? Don’t expect any kind of wardrobe malfunction in this group, as current members Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend open with a laser light show playing their hit “Pinball Wizard”.
The second half starts off with fireworks, as Sean Payton of the Saints calls for an onside kick. The Saints recover the ball after the Colts’ backup wide receiver, most known for his marriage to former Playboy Playmate and Hugh Hefner girlfriend, Kendra Wilkinson, bobbled the kick. Drew Brees makes the Colts pay, passing to running back Pierre Thomas for a 19-yard touchdown to make the score 13-10, giving the Saints their first lead of the night.
Without giving the Saints enough time to even crack a smile, Manning goes back down the field, ending with running back Joseph Addai and a 4-yard touchdown rush, giving the Colts the lead once again, 17-13.
The Saints hero from the NFC Championship game, kicker Garrett Hartley, put his team 1 point back of the Colts as he nails his third field goal of the night, making the score 17-16. Hartley hit field goals from 46, 44, and 47 yards. The Colts next possession, veteran kicker, Matt Stover, missed a 51-yard field goal, giving the Saints the ball back with ten minutes left in the fourth quarter.
The Saints take advantage of Matt Stover’s field goal miss, as Drew Brees hooks up with his tight end, Jeremy Shockey, for a 2-yard TD catch. In what turned out to be a theme of the night, Saints Head Coach, Sean Payton, makes another aggressive decision and goes for a 2-point conversion.Lance Moore was the player targeted by Brees, and after a booth review, the Saints were granted the 2 points, making the score 24-16 with 5:42 left in the game.
This situation was one the Peyton Manning has succeeded in over and over again. With one bad look, that all flew out the window, as Manning was intercepted by New Orleans’ Tracy Porter who ran it back for a touchdown, putting the Saints up 31-17 with 3:12 left in the game. Peyton Manning looked rattled as his trusty wide receivers couldn’t help but to let the ball slip through their hands.Manning was given one more shot for a comeback, but the Saints’ defensive pressure was too much. The New Orleans Saints are the Super Bowl 44 Champions. Drew Brees, with his son in his arms and tears in his eyes, was awarded the Super Bowl 44 MVP Award.
WGR 550 would like to thank everyone for tuning in all season to listen to the NFL.

Better team and organization won
This Colts team may have been one of the all around worst rosters ever to get to a Superbowl. Its a f***in miracle they won 14 games this year. Was the AFC really that bad!!??? I said a couple weeks ago this was a one man show because they rode Peyton Manning's arm to get this far and some of you asses out there said I was crazy. Well the one trick pony colts showed who they really were tonight. Screw the Freeney injured ankle crap, the colts were outmatched in every facet of this game. If the Saints made more plays on those first few drives in the first half this would have been one of the worst blowouts in Superbowl history. Bill Polian is the most overrated GM in the history of prfessional sports. This team that he put together was not very impressive from top to bottom. Their defense is god awful. Gary Brackett always makes plays for one half of the game then gets out muscled by tight ends and offensive linemen the rest of the game. The puny puke DT's which are a Polian trademark(see Jeff Wright)cannot holdup a frontal assault by an offense. Polian gets too much credit. His legacy was severely damaged by this game. I still think Manning is great but he can only do so much. When the rest of your team is not much better all around than the Bills when you run into a bigger, stronger and better opponent like the Saints this is usually the outcome. This should have been a 45-17 game not as close as it was.

re: who cares?
Your cool!!!
Oh and if you think you actually have some kind of point to make then learning to spell would lend a great deal of credibility to your argument. However, most likely you are 12 years old so therefore your spelling is excusable. Though ifyou are 12, then any kind of argument that you may attempt will hold no credibility anyways so maybe you should just not post anything at all.

Saints
I was pulling for them and they got the job done. I was happy with either team winning because Manning and Brees are class acts all the way. The action wasn't quite as high as I expected but I was still on the edge of my seat until the end. I really thought we would see some Manning miracles last two drives but it's not to be. Brees and the Saints were the better team.

Congrats to the Big Easy
One win is better than none, unlike the Bills who lost 4 in a row, takes talent to do that.
