The Buffalo Bills and safety Donte Whitner seemed to be parting ways before the start of the offseason, but now Whitner’s words could be a better indicator that he has played his last game as a member of the Bills.
Buffalo’s soon-to-be former safety has been voicing his displeasure of the Bills draft, in which the team took three players to play in their secondary. Whitner has tweeted comments like “I’m gone…and happy :)” and “Hate feels so good,” while also answering negatively to fans who have tweeted back in response to his tweets.
The Bills drafted three players in the secondary including: CB/S Aaron Williams from Texas (34th overall), S Da’Norris Searcy from North Carolina (fourth round), and Richmond CB Justin Rogers (seventh round).
During the draft, the safety tweeted comments like “Emotions run. Deep…Learn to control em,” and “Congrats on ur. Draft picks…lol.”
In addition to the picks, the team resigned George Wilson, and they still have Bryan Scott, Jairus Byrd, and Jon Corto under contract.
Whitner was the first player drafted in Marv Levy’s short reign as the Bills’ General Manager, as the Ohio State stand-out was picked 8th overall in the 2006 NFL Draft.
In his five-year stint with Buffalo, Whitner has collected 451 tackles (323 solo), one sack, 19 pass deflections, and five interceptions. He had his best statistical season last season with 140 tackles (96 solo), 0.5 sacks, seven pass deflections, and an interception.
