On Thursday night at Little Caesars Arena, the Buffalo Sabres defeated the Detroit Red Wings in overtime by a final score of 3-2.

It was Marco Scandella beating the overtime horn by 0.2 seconds to finish off the victory for the blue and gold. The first-year Buffalo defenseman blasted a shot past Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard to end things in Detroit.

Robin Lehner stopped 35 of 37 shots in the game, including a handful of pivotal overtime stops where the Red Wings brought odd-man rushes against him.

Go inside the locker room to hear from Rasmus Ristolainen, Evander Kane, Marco Scandella, Robin Lehner, Johan Larsson and Phil Housley following the triumph.

Rasmus Ristolainen:

Asked about puck luck: "The two points and the win are the only thing that matters right now."

Finding their stride after shaky start to second period: "First period was good, the second period wasn't that good [for us], but in the third period was almost battled very well [towards the regulation win], but we got a bit of a tough break at the end."

Evander Kane:

Exciting evening: "It's a fun place to play in, in Detroit, and they're a good team with a lot of skill. It was probably an entertaining game for the fans."

On his goal counting after a review: "I've had a couple of disallowed ones. I had a stretch there where I think I had three disallowed goals in four games. I was a little nervous with how long it was taking with the review. Nice to get the right call, and good to put the team ahead to that point."

Marco Scandella:

On his OT buzzer-beater: "We kept thep puck in. It was a great play by [Johan] Larsson to go to the net. I was just trying to find some open ice in the slot and [Larsson] made a great play to me."

Battle: "We showed some resiliency tonight. We gave up a goal late in the game, and we didn't throw in the towel. It just showed the kind of game we played tonight. We played 60 minutes, and played a simple game but a hard game. Everyone pulled on the rope. [Robin] Lehner made some great saves to keep us in it, too. Especially on overtime. Couple of big ones."

Robin Lehner:

Questioning the goalie interference challenge's length: "I don't know why it took so long. [Pominville] barely touched him. That couldn't possibly be that difficult of a call."

Equilibrium of play: "There's going to be momentum shifts in games. I think we were really good in parts of the first [period], they came out hard in the second [period], then [Evander] Kane scored a big powerplay goal for us. Then, the game kind of balanced out again."

Johan Larsson:

On his late third period penalty: "Stick got between [us] and he kind of stepped on me a little bit and fell down. [The ref] can make a call or he can choose not to make a call. He made a call. I thought we had a really good penalty kill, but they got a bounce and it went in."

On his OT redemption of sorts: "I got the puck and missed my first opportunity. Then I tried to go down to the corner to try to break back but they got the puck. I fell down, got back up, and I think [Reinhart] made a good play to keep it down there. Then I just tried to take it to the net and I saw Scandella behind me. I made a play to him and he put it in."

Phil Housley:

Overall effort: "I thought we played a pretty solid game for 60 minutes. I know we didn't lean on players hard enough in the second period, but I liked the response we had in the third period.

"Interesting" extra period: "That's what overtime brings. It's a back and forth game. We had some real golden looks, and we gave them some golden looks right back. Robin did a great job and made a couple of huge saves. It's great to see Scandella score that winner with time left on the clock, too. It's a good win.
