Hey Bills Fans,
Jump up and shout now! I’ve been singing this song all day! Gotta take advantage of the 24 hour rule and make the most of it. Hope you guys are doing the same. Can you believe that game? Man was that fun to be a part of! We went up there and took care of business- the way it’s supposed to be done. Coach Gailey told us it doesn’t matter what type of environment we play in, at the end of the day the only thing that matters is the win-loss column. Based off his press conference, he was equally impressed with the turnout as we were. You guys accepted my challenge and started to change the atmosphere up there. It was definitely a step in the right direction!
I have to ask, what was your favorite play of the game? Let’s see if anyone has an answer that can change my mind, but for now, I’ll say it was Freddy’s 40 something yard run on the first play of the second half. Going into halftime I was worried that with our 13-0 lead and the way we had been dominating all game, we may come out flat and let up some. That obviously wasn’t the case, and I think that particular play set the tempo for the rest of the game. I’ll let you know Friday if someone came up with one that changed my mind, but either way I’d love to hear the fans perspective on some highlights.
Before every game, everyone gets ready a little differently. Many guys choose to listen to music on the bus ride into the stadium. The short ride from the hotel to The Rogers Centre only gave me a chance to pick three songs before we were there. I’ve got over 7,000 different songs of ALL types of genres on my iPad, so I really had to make each one count. On Sunday, I woke up feeling real relaxed and ready to go so I chose to keep that mind set on the way to the game. first choice, who better than a classic artist, James Taylor? I was going for Country Road when I saw Copperline, and went immediately made those the first two songs to play. You guys being classic rock fans should know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s hard to listen to James Taylor and NOT be relaxed. While I was listening to both of these my wife was driving up from Buffalo and we were texting back and forth, so the more I texted her the easier my relaxing third choice became, Tom Petty’s Wildflowers. Great song, I can’t hear that without thinking of her.
There’s a glimpse into my thoughts before a game. A game that is supposed to be extremely violent where you must either hit someone, or get hit and I’m in the bus listening to Tom Petty thinking of my wife. I’d bet that surprises a lot of folks out there, but hey I’m just being honest, giving you insight into a pro’s mind. We’ll see next week, I may need to get fired-up and listen to some Lil Wayne, or let the lyrics of Eminem’s Lose Yourself help me get focused. What songs do you guys put on the playlist to achieve different mindsets? Shoot them my way- I’m always looking to add to my music collection.
Alright guys, get back to work, and I’ll get back to mine- getting ready to take it to the Jets on Sunday. Let’s meet back here Friday, I’ll give you guys a taste of the scouting report and follow up with my perspective as to why we keep winning. Talk to you then.
