Malik Jackson #97
Tennessee
6'5", 270 lbs., 22 years old
Northridge, CA
56 tackles, 3 sacks (5 in '10, 3.5 in '09, 2 in '08)
PROS
- Strong bull-rusher that can fight through a lineman trying to tie up his shoulder pads.
- Occasionally gets to the backfield on run plays and either changes direction or slows up the runner's course.
- Has played both DE and DT in his four seasons of college football.
CONS
- His height and weight combination don't indicate a clear-cut position for him in the NFL.
- Must get better at wrapping up ball carriers in the backfield once he gets penetration.
- Gets swallowed up by the play and pushed along with blocks at times.
Special Notes:
- Transferred out of USC after 2009 season
- Started at defensive tackle at UT
Projection: 4th to 5th round
- He's too slow and stocky to be a pass-rusher in either scheme, yet too small still for other defensive line roles. He will need to add 10-20 pounds to fit the mold of 3-technique tackle or 5-technique end.
