Oilers, Jackets May Be Looking to Trade Down

The Edmonton Oilers hold the first overall pick in the draft for the 3rd year in a row.  Whether or not they want to pick in that spot for the third time is up to them.

According to Mark Spector of Sportsnet, the Oilers are thinking about trading away their first overall pick to a team who may like to take Nail Yakupov or another top prospect.  According to Spector, the Oilers really like Griffin Reinhart, a defensman for the WHL's Edmonton Oil Kings.

Reinhart (6'4", 207 lb.) scored 12 goals and 36 points in 58 games last season.  He is considered to be a top five prospect by TSN's draft rankings.  Spector says the Oilers don't want to draft Reinhart with the pressure of the 1st overall pick.

ProHockeyTalk's Jason Brough is also reporting the Columbus Blue Jackets may be looking to trade away the second overall pick, depending on who is picked with the 1st overall selection.  The Blue Jackets may want to take a defensman like Ryan Murray from the Everett Silvertips.
