The Calgary Flames have traded for the rights for Washington Capitals' defenseman Dennis Wideman. The Flames then signing Wideman to a 5-year contract with a salary cap hit of $5.25 million.

The Flames sending forward Jordan Henry and a 5th round draft pick to the Capitals.

Last season, Wideman scored 46 points in 82 games and was minus-8 for Washington last year.
