Darcy Regier joined Mike Schopp Tuesday on WGR and the Sabres GM was candid about his offseason activities. Two big name free agents came up during the conversation. Regier has contacted Shane Doan's camp, saying, "I have reached out to his agent," but, "that's going to play out with respect to the Phoenix situation and with respect to a lot of other interest from other teams." Regier also said that he has not contacted the agent of former Capitals forward Alex Semin.
Toward the end of the conversation, Regier confirmed that he's still exploring trade options and that open to the idea of giving up younger assets for "signature" players, saying, "I can tell you, we're doing the work to do that. To the extent it hasn't happened, it isn't because of a lack of effort and the efforts will continue."
