Buffalo Business Report - Friday, July 13th 2012



The AAA reports the current average for a gallon of unleaded gas is $3.60 in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls area. That's twenty-one cents higher than the national average of $3.39 per gallon.

Checker's Drive In is hailing the Buffalo area as a destination it would like to explore. Business First reports the restaurant chain is planning up to twenty Checker's sites in the region, with the first to open by next year. Smaller sized Checker's are already in the food concourse of Buffalo Niagara International Airport and at the Pembroke Thruway rest stop.

Engineering, architecture and land surveying firm T.Y. International of San Francisco has reached a lease agreement for the former Corn Exchange on South Elmwood Avenue. Terms of the agreement were not announced publicly.

The Air Force Office of Scientific Research has given UB a $2.9 million grant. The money will support nanotechnology research.

Computer Task Group has been ranked 59th in the 2012 Healthcare Informatics 100, an annual ranking based on revenue.
