After having the best season of his NFL career, former Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch has been arrested just days before the start of Seattle Seahawks training camp.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, Lynch was arrested in Oakland for driving under the influence on Saturday. Lynch took a blood test that resulted in being over the legal limit for blood-alcohol level, eclipsing the .08 mark.
The running back was arrested, taken to jail, cited and later released according to the report.
Lynch, 26, could be facing yet another suspension from the NFL. In 2009, Lynch had to sit out three games after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor weapons charge. That offense came after having his driver's license revoked in 2008 after a hit-and-run incident in downtown Buffalo.
The Oakland-native was dealt by the Bills ahead of the trade deadline in 2011 for a fourth-round pick that year as well as a fifth-round selection in 2012.
Lynch then burst on to the scene for the Seahawks this past season rushing for 1,204 yards and 12 touchdowns, which resulted in the franchise re-signing him on a four-year contract worth $31 million, over $18 million of which was guaranteed.
The Seahawks released the following statement:
"We are aware of the situation with Marshawn and are still gathering information."
The Bills selected offensive tackle Chris Hairston and linebacker Tank Carder with the picks garnered in the trade.
