Paterno Statue Taken Down

Penn State president Rodney Erickson has made up his mind and the statue of Joe Paterno outside Beaver Stadium has come down.  Erickson issued a statement explaining his decision Sunday morning, saying, "I believe that, were it to remain, the statue will be a recurring wound to the multitude of individuals across the nation and beyond who have been the victims of child abuse."

The decision comes in the wake of a report by FBI investigator Louis Freeh that concluded Paterno and Penn State administrators willingly concealed abuse claims against former PSU assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.  Efforts to remove the statue have already begun.
